Privacy Policy
Last updated September 22, 2026
Fireball Designer ("we," "us") is built by Fireball Enterprise. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.
Fireball Designer is a local-first Mac app. Your designs live on your Mac, not on our servers. Most of what follows is about the small amount of information that does leave your computer.
Your projects stay on your Mac
Your projects are ordinary .fireballdesign files, saved wherever you put them. The project library, its thumbnails, recovery snapshots and your app settings are stored on your Mac as well. We don't receive them, we can't read them, and nothing about a project is sent anywhere as a matter of course.
Two things change that, and both are your choice:
- Fireball Sidecar. If you use the AI panel, what you send it — your messages, the parts of the
open project needed to answer, and any image you attach — goes to the Sidecar service to generate a reply. That is covered by the Fireball Sidecar Privacy Policy.
- Cloud storage. If you upload a project so you can reach it from another device, that project
is stored in your account's storage until you delete it.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name and email address, held in your Fireball account, which is
shared with other Fireball products. Your password is stored securely by our authentication provider using industry-standard hashing; we never see or store it in plain text.
- Your plan — which Fireball plan your account holds, so the app can unlock what you're
entitled to.
- A device identifier — a random identifier for each Mac you sign in on, so a plan can be
applied to the right computers and you can sign a device out.
- What you send us deliberately — feedback, support conversations, and a diagnostics report if
you choose to send one.
What we don't do
- No analytics and no tracking. Fireball Designer contains no analytics, tracking or
crash-reporting software. We don't record what you model, which tools you use, or how long you use the app.
- No advertising. Fireball Designer shows no ads.
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't look at your designs.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account working.
- To apply the plan your account holds.
- To answer you when you contact support, and to fix problems you report.
Who we share it with
We share the little we hold with the vendors that make the service work: our authentication provider (to sign you in) and cloud infrastructure providers (to host the account service and any projects you upload). They may only use it to provide their service to us.
If you use the Sidecar panel, what you send it also reaches the AI model providers that generate the reply, as described in Sidecar's policy.
One third-party request is worth naming: when Sidecar shows a link, your Mac asks Google for that site's icon, which tells Google the site's address. Nothing else about you or your project is sent with it.
The MCP server
Fireball Designer can act as an MCP server so an AI assistant you choose can work on an open project. It is off until you turn it on, it listens only on your own Mac, and you choose what to share with it. Anything that assistant then does with your project is governed by whatever service you pointed at it, not by us.
Your controls
- Your files are yours: move, copy, back up or delete them like any other files. Deleting the
app doesn't touch them.
- Sign out on any Mac, at any time.
- Turn the MCP server off, and close the Sidecar panel: Designer works fully without either.
- Delete uploaded projects from your storage whenever you like.
- Delete your account from your Fireball account page. This can't be undone.
Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, it's removed promptly and permanently.
Children's privacy
Fireball Designer isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the update.
Contact
Use the chat on any Fireball site, including fireballdesigner.com/support, and we'll pick it up from there.
